Yesterday was my first OB appointment. She was a little funny when she came in. She made a comment about how when she saw i was coming in pregnant again she thought “oh no that poor body.” I think she quickly realized that probably wasn’t a great comment and followed up with how amazing it is that I do this and that it’s gone well for me and such. I didn’t really care, I just thought it was funny.
She did a quick ultrasound and baby looked great. Measuring 11w1d (2 days ahead) with a heart rate of 180. I don’t think she’s used to seeing patients for the first time at 11 weeks because when she first started the ultrasound she said “this baby looks huge!” Well yeah, I’m not 8 weeks 😆 After she measured it she was more like “oh, yeah, that’s the right size.”
Unfortunately, the fertility clinic didn’t get my records over there in time for her to have a chance to look them over. I explained that the embryo was a low level mosaic, but that we couldn’t remember what chromosome was affected. We had planned on doing the same testing we did last time…of course they no longer do that testing (I am always amazed how much things change between pregnancies even when they aren’t very far apart). She was in agreement with doing the 12 week ultrasound at the IFs request. Before she recommends any genetic testing she wants to see the embryo’s pre genetic testing results and consult with a high risk OB to see what test would be best. I spent a lot of the day today going back and forth with the fertility clinic and OB office trying to find out of they received that part of the notes. I know they have my records, but have not heard yet if they have the embryo information. Hopefully they will let me know tomorrow if they have it.
How far along: 11 Weeks
How big is baby: Size of a fig, about 1.6in
IVF meds: Tomorrow is my last day of meds! I will take my last delestrogen injection, last low dose aspirin, and last progesterone capsule. I’m very excited to be done. I’m hoping that being completely off meds will help with all the bloating. That’s actually been the hardest symptom and makes my nausea so much worse.
Symptoms: Sometimes I feel great and other times I’m super nauseous and bloated. After eating I usually feel pretty nauseous for an hour or so after. On the days I work in the office I’m wiped out by the time I get home. The other days I’m not quite as tired, but I definitely don’t have any trouble falling asleep at night.
Sleep: I’ve been sleeping pretty good. I’m thinking about getting one of those “U” shaped pregnancy pillows when we get back from vacation so that I don’t have to drag the extra pillow I use under my stomach and between my knees with me every time I roll over. I’ve never had one before, but seeing as how this is almost certainly my last pregnancy I’m thinking of treating myself a bit 😊
Food cravings? Fruity candy, French toast, frozen toaster waffles, peach cobbler w/ vanilla ice cream, salad
Food Aversions? not really, sometimes nothing sounds good, but no real aversions
Anything making you queasy or sick? the bloat I get after eating makes me pretty nauseous
Best moment of the week? seeing baby on a quick ultrasound yesterday at my OB appointment
Next appointment: I have the 12 week nuchal translucency ultrasound on 7/21, then my next OB appt is on 8/9
