8 Weeks

Weekly Update:

How far along: 8 weeks

How big is baby: Size of a raspberry or wild strawberry, about .6in

IVF meds: .5mL Progesterone daily, 1 progesterone tab PV twice a day, baby aspirin daily, .25mL Delestrogen Mondays and Fridays.

Symptoms: I’m definitely feeling all the 1st trimester fun symptoms….nausea, bloating, exhaustion, round ligament pain. I have good and bad days with the nausea. The bad days are just constant nausea from the time I get up until I go to bed. On the good days it comes and goes. I can be completely fine one minute and super nauseous the next. I’m finding it to be a real mental battle this pregnancy to feel nauseous so much. I think the mom/wife guilt of it being summer, but not feeling up to do anything is making it feel harder than it is. If I think back to previous pregnancies, I’m actually feeling relatively good at this point. Like I said, it’s a harder mental game this go around.

Sleep: I hadn’t been sleeping very well the last week or so. I was waking up in the middle of the night with a lot of nausea and gas pains. It was hard to get comfortable. Yesterday afternoon and before bed I finally thought to take some gas meds and it made a world of difference last night.

Food cravings? Fruity candy, pizza, veggies w/ ranch, cereal, granny smith apples w/ cheese cold foods. I was telling my husband last night that I don’t remember my mouth feeling so hot all the time with other pregnancies. All I want to do is eat cool/cold foods, but there’s only so many of those.

Food Aversions? Contrary to all my previous pregnancies I’ve had a strong aversion to carby things like crackers, chips, pretzels…those are usually the only things I can stomach at this point, but this time I can hardly thing about eating them. I mean it’s good because I don’t need them and should eat less of them anyway, it’s just been strange since in my previous 4 pregnancies they were all I could eat at this point

Anything making you queasy or sick? having an empty stomach or having too full of a stomach

Best moment of the week? Summer weather finally making a steady appearance!

Next appointment: I have an intake call with the medical assistant at my OB office on June 29th. Our next ultrasound is on July 6th
