5 Weeks

Today I am 5 weeks pregnant! It feels strange to not have a 3rd beta or anymore appointments until the first ultrasound. We just have to hope that things are progressing like they should and keep our fingers crossed. I was debating whether to start weekly updates now or after the first ultrasound since there is a higher chance of this pregnancy not being viable. I went back and looked at when I started them with the other GC pregnancies. With both of them I started at 5 weeks. I decided that this little one deserves the benefit of the doubt just like the other surro babes I’ve carried. If it doesn’t work out then that’s how it turns out, but today I’m 5 weeks and I’m choosing to be optimistic.

Weekly Update:

How far along: 5 weeks

How big is baby: Peppercorn

IVF meds: 1mL Progesterone daily, 1 progesterone tab PV twice a day, baby aspirin daily, .3mL Delestrogen Mondays and Fridays.

Symptoms: I’m tired pretty much all the time. That doesn’t keep me from staying up way too late though. I’ve been hungry too. I could almost always be eating if I let myself. I wake up very hungry, but after a glass of water it goes away for a bit and I usually eat around 9:30am. Starting last weekend I was already having nausea in the morning which was really surprising as it usually takes longer to show up. After getting my estrogen and progesterone results on Tuesday and looking back at what my levels were with previous GC pregnancies, I figured out that my progesterone and estrogen levels are much higher this time which would cause the earlier symptoms. I started taking my vitamin B complex again and it has significantly helped with the morning nausea.

Sleep: I wish I could take naps everyday, but unfortunately we’re just too busy. I’m really looking forward to sleeping in this weekend.

Food cravings? No strong ones yet. With being hungry all the time most things sound good at any given time. I know that won’t last so I’m enjoying still liking food for the time being

Anything making you queasy or sick? not really since I started taking my vitamin B again. It took about 2 days for it to help, but I’m so thankful it did.

Happy or moody? mostly happy, just tired

Best moment of the week? Getting a good 2nd beta number

Next appointment: ultrasound and blood test on 6/15 (which is my son’s 9th birthday so hopefully that’s good luck!)
