It’s Official!

I’m officially pregnant! Which means my wonderful IFs are expecting!! I cannot tell you how excited I am for them. I’m being cautiously optimistic right now as I still have a blood test tomorrow to make sure my hormone levels are rising appropriately. Then I have an ultrasound next Wednesday. It will be too early to see a heartbeat, but we’ll be able to make sure that there’s a gestational sac that’s measuring the right size. Heartbeat confirmation should be on 1/22. At that point I’ll be 7 weeks and we should be able to see a heartbeat at that point. There’s still a long ways to go for a healthy baby for IFs, but this is a wonderful first step.

Typically I’m one to not want to “jinx” anything by say, taking bump pics too early or talking about when the baby gets here instead of “if we make it that far”. This time however, I’m choosing to be positive. I’m sending positive vibes out for this pregnancy and thinking positively about upcoming appointments. Now, that doesn’t mean I’m not aware that this could possibly not work out. I know that at any time an appointment could have a negative outcome, but I’m just sending good vibes out there. You know what they say, putting positivity our in the universe bring positivity back to you (or something like that).

So in the spirit of positivity I’m going to start bump pics on Sunday (at 5 weeks) and I’m going to start filling out a weekly questionnaire about this pregnancy. Some of these questions don’t really apply this early in the game, but I’ll leave them there for later.

Weekly Update”

How far along? 4 weeks 4 days

How big is baby: Size of a poppyseed

IVF Meds: still on Estradiol 2mg 3x a day and 2ccs of PIO (progesterone in oil). The PIO injections are going good, my backside is sore, but manageable. I’m making sure to use my heating pad as much as possible after the injection to avoid knots. It seems to be getting harder for the hubs to find a not sore area to inject. It’s not awful, but I’m definitely hoping everything goes smoothly so I can stop meds at about 10 weeks

Stretch marks? Not there yet

Belly button In/Out? Shouldn’t be out until 3rd tri

Wedding ring Off/On? I don’t wear it that much anyway, but I still get it off and on

Symptoms? fatigue, not able to eat as much at one sitting without getting nauseous, I swear I’m getting round ligament pain already which isn’t awesome

Sleep? Yes please!

Miss anything? soft cheese

Movement? not there yet

Food cravings? popcorn! I could eat it for every meal. Ice water, this has happened with both my previous pregnancies. Milk, this was one of the very first before I even got a positive test. I craved ice cold milk during my previous pregnancies as well. I took a test the next day and it was positive.

Anything making you queasy or sick? If I eat too big a portion

Labor signs Save for later

Best moment this week: Getting the email saying I’m officially pregnant!

Next Appointment: blood draw tomorrow morning then first US on 1/10

  1. I can’t love this more!! Oh man, the slew of tests and appointments you’re going through is crazy! I remember having my “confirmation” ultra sound that showed the heartbeat; so cool. Good luck with everything!!
